Terms of Use
Release candidate · 1.0-rc-2026-09-08 · Reference implementation, not a live publication.
Version 1.0 Effective date: [PUBLICATION DATE]
1. Agreement and operator
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and JARGONAUT LABS PTE. LTD. (UEN 202639127H), the Singapore company that operates Newbie Parents. They govern the Newbie Parents mobile apps, website and any private web client we make available (together, the “Service”).
By creating an account or accepting a version of these Terms in the Service, you agree to that version. The Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data and forms part of the information presented with these Terms. If you do not agree, do not create or continue using an account.
2. Eligibility and capacity
We do not impose a blanket 18+ account rule. You may use the Service only if you can understand these Terms and form the agreement that applies to your use. If applicable law requires another person's permission or agreement for you to use the Service, use it only after that permission or agreement has been given. Do not misrepresent your capacity or authority.
3. Authority to create and manage a family
If you provide information about a child, you confirm that you are the child's parent or guardian, or are validly acting on their behalf. You must not provide, access or share a child's information without the right or permission to do so.
“Owner” is an app-administration role, not proof that Newbie Parents has verified a parent, guardian, caregiver, custody or family relationship. We do not adjudicate custody, guardianship or family disputes. Conflicting claims sent to support do not by themselves change access. Families must resolve those matters outside the Service; we may act where binding law or legal process requires it.
4. Family roles
- An Owner can access the family and its children, manage members and roles, invite people, manage child profiles, accept or initiate ownership changes, delete a child and close the family.
- A Caregiver can access the shared family history and routine records and may invite a Helper only for a child the Caregiver can access. A Caregiver may cancel their own pending Helper invitation and remove a Helper they personally invited.
- A Helper has access only to explicitly shared children and the limited current-day, recent-record and Care-card information described when the invitation is accepted. A Helper may add only the allowed routine records and edit or delete only their own entries within 24 hours. A Helper cannot manage people or profiles or access long-term History, Insights or Growth.
The detailed capability shown in the Service controls if it is narrower than this summary. You must not attempt to bypass a role, child scope, time limit or other access control.
5. Invitations and ownership
An invitation is intended only for the verified email recipient and expires after the period shown. Do not forward or publish an invitation link. Acceptance is subject to the inviter still having authority and the role/child scope still being valid.
An Owner or Caregiver who invites someone is responsible for choosing an appropriate person and scope. The invited person is responsible for reviewing the role before acceptance and using access only for the family's authorised care purpose.
Ownership transfer or addition requires the recipient's separate acceptance. An existing Owner remains an Owner until a later role or membership action. A sole Owner must add an accepted Owner or close the family before leaving or deleting their account; account deletion must not be blocked indefinitely if the Owner chooses closure.
6. Acceptable use
You must:
- provide information you are authorised to provide and take reasonable care that it is accurate;
- use child and family information only for legitimate shared care;
- respect the privacy and safety of children and other family members;
- follow the role and child access shown to you; and
- tell us promptly if you believe an account, invitation or family space has been compromised.
You must not:
- access, disclose, copy or use a child or family record without authority;
- impersonate someone, misstate a relationship, share credentials or transfer an invitation to another person;
- use the Service to harass, threaten, surveil, exploit or endanger a person, or to pursue a family dispute;
- upload unlawful, harmful, deceptive or rights-infringing material;
- probe, disrupt, overload, reverse engineer or bypass the Service or its security except where applicable law expressly permits; or
- use automated access, scraping or extraction except through a method we expressly provide.
7. Account security
Keep your sign-in method and devices secure. Use only your own account. You are responsible for activity through your account to the extent caused by your failure to take reasonable care, but these Terms do not make you responsible for events outside your reasonable control.
Contact jargonautlabs@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorised access. We may revoke sessions, invalidate invitations, restrict an account or require reauthentication where reasonably necessary to protect the Service or a family.
8. Shared records and authorship
Family records are shared according to roles. Each contribution remains linked internally to the immutable account identifier that created it. The Service may display “You” to the author and the current family display name to other authorised members. Changing a display name does not change authorship.
Do not treat another person's entry as verified medical fact. Correct inaccurate entries through the available authorship/role rules or ask an authorised Owner/Caregiver to make a visible correction where overwriting would mislead.
You keep any rights you have in content you submit. You give us a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, process, reproduce and display that content only as reasonably needed to operate, secure and support the Service and meet legal obligations. This licence ends when the content is deleted, subject to temporary backup expiry and limited lawful retention described in the Privacy Policy.
9. Leaving and deletion
Leaving a family ends future access but does not delete your account or existing contributions while the account remains active.
You may initiate account deletion at More → Settings → Account → Delete account or through the published web deletion route. Deletion ends access and removes the account and associated live data within the disclosed period. It also deletes every care entry authored by that account, so the family's history and summaries may change. We do not silently transfer authorship.
Only an Owner may delete a child or close a family under Settings → Family. These actions affect everyone with access. Deleting the last child closes the family. Backup and offline-device limits are explained in the Privacy Policy.
10. Health and safety
Newbie Parents is for recording information and presenting sourced general guidance. It is not a medical device, healthcare provider or emergency service. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent a condition; prescribe treatment; calculate medicine doses; verify that an entry is accurate; or replace advice from a qualified healthcare professional.
Do not rely on the Service to detect an emergency or deliver a reminder. If you are worried about a child's health, contact a qualified healthcare professional. For a life-threatening emergency in Singapore, do not wait for the app—call 995. Elsewhere, call the local emergency service. Follow any more specific, source-reviewed urgent-care wording displayed in the Service.
11. Availability, changes and interruption
We aim to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted, always-available or error-free operation. Internet, device, platform and provider failures can delay synchronisation, notifications or access. Keep an appropriate alternative for information needed during urgent care.
We may change, suspend or discontinue a feature where reasonably necessary for security, law, provider changes or product operation. We will give reasonable notice of a material planned change where practicable. We do not promise that a dormant, experimental, future or excluded feature will become available.
12. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service, leave a family or delete your account under the available rules. We may restrict or terminate access where we reasonably believe this is necessary to address a material breach of these Terms, unlawful use, a security risk, harm to another person, a binding legal requirement or discontinuation of the Service.
Where circumstances allow, we will give notice and an opportunity to correct the issue. We may act immediately where delay would create a security, legal or safety risk. Termination does not authorise us to retain data beyond the Privacy Policy or applicable law.
13. Intellectual property
The Service, excluding user content and third-party source material, is owned by or licensed to JARGONAUT LABS PTE. LTD. and protected by applicable intellectual-property law. These Terms give you a personal, limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the Service for its intended family-care purpose. They do not transfer our trade marks, software, design or other rights.
14. External links, sources and commercial content
Links to hospitals, public agencies, guidance or other third-party material are provided for reference. The source institution is responsible for its own material, and a link does not imply endorsement of Newbie Parents.
If the Service later includes an owned-product recommendation, affiliate link, sponsorship or other commercial content, we will label it clearly. Commercial considerations must remain separate from clinical, safety, government, insurance, logging and Insights decisions.
15. Warranties and liability
To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided on an “as available” basis. We do not promise that every entry, calculation, source link, notification or third-party service will always be accurate, complete, current or available. You remain responsible for care decisions and for checking information that matters to health or safety with an appropriate professional.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss that was not reasonably foreseeable when you accepted these Terms, or for loss caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control. Any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted remains unaffected. In particular, nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that applicable law does not allow us to exclude or restrict.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by Singapore law. Subject to any mandatory right or forum that applies to you, the courts of Singapore have non-exclusive jurisdiction. Before starting formal proceedings, you and we should try in good faith to resolve the issue through jargonautlabs@gmail.com, unless urgent relief or a legal deadline makes that impracticable.
Nothing in this section limits a non-waivable consumer or privacy right.
17. Changes and versioned acceptance
We may update these Terms for a changed service, law, provider or risk. We will publish the version and effective date. For a material change, we will give reasonable notice and ask for fresh acceptance before the new Terms govern continued account use where that is appropriate. Editorial or clarity changes may take effect on publication without another checkbox.
Our evidence may record the authenticated account, Terms version, acceptance time, app/client version and locale. It does not ordinarily include an IP address, identity document or device fingerprint.
